$22 Million Verdict For Leg Amputation

A jury has ordered a hospital to pay $22.3 million to the parents of a boy whose leg was amputated soon after birth. According to the lawsuit, the hospital violated the standard of care in treating a congenital heart problem that required a shunt procedure. Negligence on the part of the hospital led to the amputation in addition to cognitive deficiencies and developmental delays. Southtown Star
