A South Carolina jury has ordered a Rock Hill hospital to pay $4.4 million to the family of a girl who died four years after sustaining brain injuries at birth. According to the lawsuit, filed by Brice and Robin Wilson, Piedmont Medical Center staff failed to act on signs that the baby was suffering from fetal distress. The four-year-old girl died earlier this month of complications from cerebral palsy. In a statement, the hospital said it believed its staff had acted appropriately and that it would consider an appeal. Rock Hill Herald
