Headaches are one of the leading causes of trips to the emergency room. Although most headaches are just that-headaches-sometimes it can be more serious.
I once had a case of a woman who went to the ER complaining of a very severe headache. When her blood pressure was taken it was sky high. Rather than take action to lower her blood pressure, she was given pain medicine for headache and was discharged.
That night she had a massive stroke.
It can be medical malpractice if a doctor fails to lower the blood pressure with medicine. Very high blood pressure is dangerous and can cause a stroke.
