You're in the doctor office's and surgery is recommended. You may have lots of questions, like how long will you be in the hospital, how long will the recovery be, when can you return to work etc.
What is overlooked is asking the surgeon about their experience. It's ok to ask a doctor how many times has he or she done this surgery. Have they had any bad results? Do they have a particular surgery that they consider themselves to be specialists in? Are they board certified in surgery. See if you can find other friends or family who have had experience with the doctor.
Even after the surgery, you may have questions. Is your doctor willing to answer questions? How is their bedside manner? How is the staff? Do you have a good impression of the way the office treated you.
All of these are important to ask before you decide on a surgeon.
