It could be.
Meningitis seems to affect younger children. It is is an infection in the parts of the brain that can be caused by a bacteria. The common symptoms are fever, throwing up ,and a stiff neck. A doctor who suspects meningitis should do a spinal tap and collect blood to make a proper diagnosis.
Antibiotic medicine must be given to kill the bacteria. Early diagnosis and treatment is critical to prevent brain damage or death.
If you suspect that your child's injury or death was from a failure to diagnose and treat meningitis, call me toll free at 1-800-299-HURT to speak with Frank Spector.
