My Son Had a Testicular Torsion And The Testicle Died-What Happened?

Posted by Frank Spector | Aug 23, 2012 | 0 Comments

Testicular torsion means that the testicle has gotten twisted up in the spermatic cord. The testicle becomes strangulated and if it is not untwisted by surgery, the testicle will die.

The symptoms are:

  • Severe pain in one testicle
  • Stomach or lower groin pain
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Fever-but not always

Most of the these cases are seen by emergency room doctors. Many times, the doctor says it is a stomach flu or stomach ache. This can be a wrong conclusion. The proper tests to determine if there is a testicular torsion:

  • Physical exam of the testicle
  • Ultrasound of the testicle to check blood flow

What is the treatment?

  • Surgery

If caught at the right time, the testicle can be saved. We have been involved in cases of testicular torsion. If this has happened to you call us toll free at 1-800-299-HURT. Or fill out a contact form on this page or on any page of our website.
