Placental Abruption Medical Malpractice

Posted by Frank Spector | Apr 09, 2013 | 0 Comments

Placental abruption means that the placenta has separated off the wall of the uterus. Placental abruptions can happen slowly or quickly. The classical sign is heavy vaginal bleeding.

Placental abruptions can be caused by high blood pressure or trauma. They can also be caused by drug use use like cocaine.

If the placenta separates off the wall more extensively, it can cause the baby to become deprived of oxygen.

So in a full term pregnancy, placental abruption is an emergency and the usual treatment is to deliver the baby by c-section before brain damage or death to the baby occurs.

We have handled cases of placental abruption where delivery was not done timely and the baby was either injured or died.

If you or someone you know has had medical malpractice in Maryland and Baltimore because of placental abruption, call us toll free at 1-800-299-HURT. Or fill out one of our contact forms on this page or on any page of our website.
