Private Ambulance Company Can Be Sued For Malpractice

Maryland's highest court decided a case involving TransCare which is a private ambulance company.  The patient was injured by the ambulance personnel and brought a lawsuit.

If the ambulance was a government entity-like the a county or city ambulance-it would be very difficult to sue them because the law provides immunity for the negligence of the government ambulances. That means it is almost impossible to be successful in such a lawsuit.

However, if there is negligence by a private ambulance company, the Court said that type of lawsuit can be brought and there is no immunity.
