Imagine waking up from surgery and be told that your doctor operated on the wrong body part.  Scary? Sure it is. But it happens quite often, especially in busy hospitals and surgicenters.

Usually, a nurse or junior doctor will mark the body part before the main surgeon comes in to do the operation.  Sometimes, patients get mixed up and you have the surgery meant for someone else. Sometimes, the nurse or junior doctor will mark the body incorrectly.  No matter what happens, it is inexcusable.

Wrong site surgery can cause a lot of problems, especially when the correct surgery needs to be done.
