Tort Reform Not Needed

Attorney Sees Increased Medical Tort Reform As Unneeded. Thomas Ajamie, managing partner at Ajamie LLP, appeared on CNBC's “CNBC Reports” (9/8, 8:44 p.m.), where he was confronted with reports on “defensive medicine,” in which doctors order unneeded medical tests to protect themselves from malpractice liability. He suggested that “maybe we've done all the reform we need to do. This country has been reforming the area of medical malpractice law for well over ten years now. And there are many states that enacted medical malpractice laws. Texas is one of those states. It's extremely difficult if not impossible to sue a doctor anymore. In fact, most of our top lawyers who handle malpractice cases have left the state and gone elsewhere.”
