We wish all of you a safe holiday season. The Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recent report regarding toy safety. You can find more information at www.uspirg.org. The report is titled Trouble in Toy Land.
So what did the report say?
Lead continues to be a hazard in toys. Lead is very harmful to children and can cause brain damage. The American Academy of Pediatrics has taken a stand on lead toys.
Choking has always been and continues to be a problem. Manufacturers of such toys like School Bus or the Duck Pull have small parts that children can choke on.
There is one trampoline toy which poses a danger of serious injury for falls.
This is not to say that children should not have fun or that toys are inherently bad. But sometimes toy manufacturers cut corners, have products made overseas, or are unaware of the hazards of the toys they make.
